Epic Cosmos

Governance Council

The Council is made up of 15 members from the Cosmos community with backgrounds in healthcare, public health, and research. The Council oversees the Rules of the Road, provides guidance and data governance decisions, and promotes best practices within the Cosmos community.

Selina Chen, MD
Hawai'i Pacific Health

Specializing in Hospital Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine and Other Specialties, Dr. Selina Chen leads clinical data and analytics at Hawai‘i Pacific Health with Epic physician builder and Clinical Informatics board certification.  Dr. Chen also serves as Chief of Pediatrics at Shriners Children’s Hawai‘i and as an assistant Professor at JABSOM. Dr. Chen holds a Master of Public Health degree and completed fellowships in pathology and medical education

Elisa L. Priest, DrPH
Baylor Scott & White

Dr. Elisa Priest, Vice President of Research Analytics and Epidemiologist at Baylor Scott & White Research Institute (BSWRI), oversees access to Cosmos and development of Epic research infrastructure. In addition, Dr. Priest focuses on the development of the research analytics team, infrastructure, and oversight of over 50 biostatisticians, research analysts, programmers, and doctoral level investigators.

Parthak Prodhan, MD, MBA
Arkansas Children's Hospital

Dr. Parthak Prodhan, is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Divisions of Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and practices at Arkansas Children's Hospital. Dr. Prodham is currently the Medical Director, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Arkansas Children's Hospital. 

Eduardo Iturrate, MD, MSW
NYU Langone Health

Dr. Eduardo Iturrate is a physician informaticist who has 25+ years of experience designing, developing and modifying Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and has a long-standing interest in leveraging clinical data to support operations, quality improvement and clinical research.

Jessica Davila, PhD, MS
Baylor College of Medicine

Dr. Jessica Davila, a clinical epidemiologist and health services researcher, has spent her career using EHR data to advance cancer care. As the Assistant Dean of Research for Research Informatics and Data Integration at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Davila leads data access governance initiatives, uniting institutions to enhance research data accessibility. At the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, she co-leads the Health Policy, Quality, and Informatics Program, engaging in projects like predictive algorithms, data element validation, and EHR data analysis.

Daniel Kortsch, MD
Denver Health

Dr. Daniel Kortsch is an Associate Chief Medical Information Officer at Denver Health, board certified in Clinical Informatics and Family Medicine. Dr. Kortsch focuses on serving immigrants, refugees, and underserved populations in his clinical practice. He leads various clinical and informatics projects and is an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Kortsch is passionate about data and sees Cosmos as a groundbreaking medical database. 

Yasir Tarabichi MD, MSCR
MetroHealth

Dr. Yasir Tarabichi is a board-certified pulmonologist, intensivist and clinical informaticist. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and the Director of Clinical Informatics at MetroHealth. Dr. Tarabichi is a core believer in the explosive power of data and interoperability catalyzed by initiatives like Cosmos.

Danielle Mowery, PhD, MS, MS FAMIA
Penn Medicine

Dr. Danielle Mowery, the inaugural Chief Research Information Officer at Penn Medicine and Scientific Director of the Penn Insitute for Biomedical Informatics Clinical Research Informatics Core, bridges clinical data, research, and healthcare knowledge. As an Assistant Professor of Informatics, Dr. Mowery employs data science and computational methods to enhance disease understanding and treatment outcomes. Her work facilitates the translation of research into patient care.

Umberto Tachinardi, MD, MSc, FACMI
UC Health

Dr. Umberto Tachinardi serves as the Chief Health Digital Officer for UC Health, and the Associate Dean and Interim Chair for Biomedical Informatics at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. In his decades-long career Dr. Tachinardi is experienced in developing and implementing health data systems and clinical research technologies. Additionally, Dr. Tachinardi led technical teams and organizations to advance the healthcare system using informatics methods which improves the quality of resources used by decision support systems in the clinical setting.

John Long, MS
University of Wisconsin Health

As the IS VP, Solution Delivery at the University of Wisconsin Health, John Long leads application teams (EHR, clinical platforms, business systems), and works closely with clinical, research, and education entities. John manages data sharing agreements and enterprise data governance in collaboration with compliance and legal teams.

Patrick Guffey, MD, MHA
Children’s Hospital Colorado

Dr. Patrick Guffey is the CMIO at Children’s Hospital Colorado and an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado. Dr. Guffey excels in data and analytics, holds HIMSS level 7 analytics certification, and is on the board of directors of the Anesthesia Quality Institute. He's actively involved in quality improvement and chairs the board of directors for Contexture, the Health information exchange for Colorado and Arizona. Dr. Guffey's passion lies in using data and informatics to drive highly reliable care while simplifying data entry for clinicians.

David Dorr, MD, MS, FACMI
OHSU

Dr. David A. Dorr, an internal medicine doctor, is OHSU’s Chief Research Information Officer. Dr. Dorr focuses on improving capabilities and use of innovations to manage data, information and knowledge in research and in translating it to health care.

Vikrant Deshmukh, PhD, JD, MS
University of Utah Health

Dr. Vikrant Deshmukh directs Data Science Services at the University of Utah Health and holds adjunct faculty appointments in the School of Medicine and College of Nursing. Dr. Deshmukh is passionate about improving healthcare through research and solving complex problems at the intersection of healthcare, science, technology, engineering, and regulation.

Richelle deMayo, MD, CM, FAAP, FAMIA
Connecticut Children's

Dr. Richelle deMayo serves as the Chief Medical Information Officer of Connecticut Children’s and Chair of the Division of Pediatric Biomedical Informatics. Though her day-to-day work embraces a diverse spectrum of systems strategy, workflow optimization, decision support, analytics, and provider/patient engagement, Dr. deMayo's background in health services research makes her especially passionate about the potential of large clinical datasets to drive discovery. She is committed to big data benefiting small patients and views Cosmos as an exciting tool for child health advocacy.

Aimee Liou, MD
Texas Children's Hospital

Dr. Aimee Liou is committed to providing excellent patient and family-centered care to patients with congenital and acquired heart disease. Dr. Liou's research interests include novel techniques in catheter-based interventions, Marfan Syndrome, and Kawasaki Disease. (Description from TexasChildrens.org)
